Press Release
Conception signs an agreement with a multi-national American company.
Cooperative Resources International will market
the bovine pregnancy test DG29™ throughout the United States.
BEAUMONT, Québec (May 25th, 2010) – Over the years, Conception has left its mark by developing and marketing a bovine pregnancy blood test named DG29™. More than 3000 Canadian dairy producers and several thousand European dairy producers rely on DG29™ to detect early pregnancies in their cows and heifers. The popularity of the test is directly connected to the promotion done by the different marketing partners who have all contributed to increasing awareness of DG29™. Once again, Conception has added another significant link to its network by reaching an agreement with Cooperative Resources International (CRI), a multinational group that will offer DG29™ in the United States. CRI counts several divisions, including Genex Cooperative, Inc., a bovine semen sales division and AgSource Cooperative Services which specializes in lab services for dairy producers. This partnership will allow Conception to access a major sales force within the bovine industry promoting DG29™ for the early detection of pregnancy in over 12 M dairy and 40 M beef females. Blood samples drawn from cattle on the farm or ranch, will be forwarded to certified AgSource Laboratories in Menomonie, Wis., for analysis using the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) DG29™ Export test kits developed by Conception. Pregnancy diagnosis results will be returned to the farm quickly and accurately. Mr. Herb Rycroft, CRI Vice-President said :”I am confident of the positive economical impact of DG29™ for dairy and beef producers alike as it will allow them to early detect and address open cows and heifers”. “All essential marketing components are now in place for a successful marketing of DG29™ in the United States” said Dr. Paul Rouillier, President of Conception. “Our partner CRI shows great interest for our DG29™ test; they have more than 600 sales representatives covering the entire country and they possess their own lab and expertise to efficiently market and perform the DG29™ test.” This access to the US market is a huge step in the growth strategy of Conception.

Pregnancy Test DG29™ now available
to Canadian Dairy Producers coast-to-coast
BEAUMONT, Quebec (September 11, 2006) – Conception
has signed an exclusive marketing agreement for
Western Canada, Ontario, and the Maritimes with
Alta Genetics, an Alberta-based company with
product development and sales operations located
throughout the world.
“We are excited that Alta Genetics and
its strong sales force will be able to offer
the Pregnancy Test DG29™ to dairy producers
across Canada,” says Paul Rouillier, President
of Conception. “Together, Alta and Conception
are able to offer added value services intended
to improve reproductive performance and generate
higher returns for dairymen.”
To date, more than 2000 dairy producers in Quebec
trust the DG29™ pregnancy test developed
by the Conception team. The daily on farm availability
of DG29™ allows dairy farmers to optimize
their reproduction by quickly identifying and
re-inseminating open cows.
According to industry estimates, the cost of
added days open has been estimated to be in the
range of $4 to $5 per day. At this rate, a 100
cow dairy that reduces its average calving interval
by 10 days can increase revenues between $4,000
to $5,000 per year.
Alta will initially market DG29™ to dairy
producers in Western Canada, Ontario, and the
Maritimes, but Conception and Alta continue to
investigate future market opportunities as well.

CFIA recognizes a blood test pregnancy
determination method for export to the US
After two long years of anticipation, finally
in July 2005 the United Stated re-opened its
border to live Canadian cattle. This positive
development however came with some strict restrictions
such as only animals under 30 months of age are
eligible and only confirmed open females may
be exported.
In January 2006, CFIA recognized DG29 as the
only suitable blood test as a method of pregnancy
determination for females for export to the Unites
States. DG29 offered by CONCEPTION, has now been
on the open market for a few years and is approved
by the CFAI Science Council. When the test is
taken between day 27 and day 39 of a gestation
period, the accuracy is estimated at 98.7%. The
accuracy increases from day 27 proportionally
with the number of days within the pregnancy.
Even though the precision of the DG29 test is
near 100% as early as day 29 of the gestation
period, all users of the test for the purpose
of export to the US , must follow the guidelines
imposed by CFIA. Details of those guidelines
can be found on their website at:
http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/anima/heasan/export/bovine/americprege.shtml
How it works
CONCEPTION supplies all materials needed for the collection of blood samples
which are returned by the users to the lab via courier service ( Quebec ,
Maritimes and Ontario receive 1 day service, Western Canadian provinces 2
days). Blood samples are analyzed the day of their arrival at the lab and
results are immediately faxed or emailed to the test users.
The fact that all blood samples can be kept
at room temperature for at least one full week
without jeopardizing the results, is another
added benefit of DG29.
The mechanics of the test is quite simple but
yet not to be disclosed. Basically, the analysis
looks for a specific protein only produced by
pregnant bovine females.
